I Came Undone – And Now I´m Together Again!

Judith Sage
During the time of writing my first book, The Joy Around You, I attempted to numb my pain by smiling the entire time, sipping Scotch and nibbling on tranquilizers. I thought I was being logical, but I was illogical and then irrational. I went crazy before I was healed. I came undone before I was put together again. My new book, FREE SEX. EXPENSIVE THERAPY: The Adventures of a Woman in Search of Connection is the story of how it all happened.

By sharing my stories with others who have sexual or any other type of addition, I hope that they can also be healed and that anyone who needs and wants to understand a loved one who is afflicted with an addiction will also benefit from my stories.

I´ve read other books that deal with addiction and betrayal, and came to the conclusion that the difference in my book and others is that I throw in a humorous touch that makes it more real. It´s difficult to think that humor can be interjected within a subject so painful – but sometimes laughter is the best medicine and if I hadn´t learned how to laugh while re-living these terrifying times, the book may have never been finished.

While I was writing FREE SEX. EXPENSIVE THERAPY, a creative energy took over and I was compelled to finish the book before any new project could hold my attention. One interesting caveat to writing the book involved the title. I´ve always loved words, and often looked up their meanings in the dictionary, so the words FREE and EXPENSIVE played on my mind as the book progressed.

Those words and the writing of the book also meant re-living the experiences of my life, and it soon became too difficult. I checked myself into the hospital where I was given medication to help me sleep. Then, after a series of appointments with a therapist, I began to come to terms with the abuse and my problem with repetition compulsion. The result was that I finally found the path to spiritual growth and was able to follow it to success.

I´ve experienced all the trauma of childhood perils, addiction and reaching the recovery stage to finally be able to deal with the destructive memories. My ´adventures´ are those of "a woman in search of connection" and my hope is that FREE SEX. EXPENSIVE THERAPY will be a good and informative read that everyone will enjoy and that some will benefit from.

FREE SEX. EXPENSIVE THERAPY: The Adventures of a Woman in Search of Connection is my personal story, including the childhood traumas that figured into my adult problems of fear and denial – thoroughly exposed. It´s a journey of trials and tribulations and severe addiction – but it´s also a story of triumph.
