Why Hillary Clinton Suffered A Humiliating Defeat In Iowa

Robert Paul Reyes
Why did Hillary Clinton suffer such a humiliating and crushing defeat in Iowa?

Consider the two candidates who finished ahead of her in Iowa:

What words come to mind when you think of Sen. Barack Obama?

Hope, change, youth, eloquence, anti-war, warmth, handsome, attractive wife and cute kids, energetic...

How about Sen. John Edwards?

Advocate for the middle class and the poor, tireless, universal health care, handsome, pro-union, anti-war...

Hillary?

Status quo, establishment, lust for power, cackle, massive warchest, ruthless ...

Is it any wonder that Hillary suffered a crushing blow in the nation's first presidential contest?

Hillary is defined not by her political beliefs, but by her unquenchable thirst for power. She will do anything to attain power: Put up with a philandering husband, distort the record of her opponents, accept donations from dubious sources, engage in the politics of personal destruction.

Three strikes and you are out, let's hope that the good people of New Hampshire, and South Carolina will knock her out.

Iowa, a state that is 95% white, proved that our nation is ready to elect an African American to the White House. America is also ready to elect a woman to the highest office -- as long as she is not Hillary Clinton
